About NabJet
The NabJet engine indexes people related data from web sites, allowing it to be searched from the NabJet home page. It was created to solve a problem using the current crop of internet search engines to find genealogical information. There is a lot of great (and free) genealogy related information out there, but the internet search engines don't really understand the information they are indexing.
The best way to illustrate this is to take an example from my own family. My grandfather's name was (no kidding) Thomas Sylvester Thomas. Can you imagine trying to find Thomas Thomas with Google? It's possible to put the name in quotes like "Thomas Thomas", but it would miss phrases like "Thomas S Thomas" and "Thomas Sylvester Thomas". Plus, it would give you false results like "...married Diane Thomas. Thomas Biggs was her uncle." What I wanted was the ability to search web sites where the first name is Thomas and the last name is Thomas.
There are other great genealogy search engines like FamilySearch.org and Ancestry.com that do let you search by first name, last name, birth date, etc. However, these sites only index content stored on their own servers. If they don't store the content on their own site, they can't index it. And how many different search engines to I have to use to find the content I'm looking for?
NabJet is different in that it intelligently indexes structured information about people from free web sites, and the search results point users back to the original content. The NabJet database only stores enough information to index the web sites for it's search engine.
Another way that NabJet is different is in the way it indexes information. Unlike Google and others, NabJet is dependent on users submitting URLs of web sites to index, along with some information about the structure of the data on the web page. This does present an additional burden to adding indexed content. However, the benefit is that any registered user can add to the NabJet index database, making the data immediately available to other users. NabJet uses a proprietary web site scraping and indexing system that can recognize a broad range of structured data. It's first implementation is being used to index people data for this site, but was developed with the ability to index any type of content. BTW, the NabJet name comes from "nab"bing content from web pages using an indexing engine (the "jet" part). Also, it's really hard to find short domain names!

Our website collects email addresses from visitors only when submitted via our registration forms.This data is used solely by NabJet and is not shared, traded, or sold to third parties. Email addresses are not required in order to register, and are only used in cases where the customer forgets their user ID and password. Customers can edit their registration and email information by clicking on My Account, located in the upper left corner of each page. Registrants can un-register by writing to the email address above.
Our website also collects non-personal data through the use of server-based "session variables," which we use to achieve important site functionality, including the recognition of logged-in users and the passing of search parameters from page to page. In order to provide this functionality, our website uses a single “cookie” (a small file stored by your browser on your hard drive) with the name PHPSESSID.
Our web-server also records IP addresses from all visitors to our site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our site, to analyze trends, and to gather broad demographic information—all for the purpose of continually improving our website and delivering personalized, custom content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information, and their collection is standard procedure in most web-server environments.

With respect to Ad Servers: To try and bring you offers that are of interest to you, we have relationships with other companies that we allow to place ads on our Web pages.
